Carmel & Naccasha LLP is pleased to welcome Emilie de la Motte to our firm as a Partner in the Litigation Practice. De la Motte is a versatile litigator who for nearly 20 years has assisted clients solve their most complex and difficult legal matters. Emilie’s diverse expertise includes product liability, construction defect, insurance defense, business litigation, employment law, premise liability, municipal law, and toxic tort.
Prior to joining Carmel & Naccasha, Emilie served as Of Counsel as an independent contractor at law firms such as Hawkins, Parnell & Young in San Francisco, Andre Morris & Buttery in San Luis Obispo, as in-house counsel for The Wonderful Company in Los Angeles and Dunn & Pangotacos in San Francisco. She also worked for many years as a Senior Associate-Civil Litigator at Selman Breitman in San Francisco and Meyers Nave in Oakland.
Emilie enjoys preparing complex motions, including motions to quash, protective orders, preliminary injunctions, motions to strike, and summary judgement motions. Emilie has a passion for legal writing that extends to teaching at the San Luis Obispo College of Law. She instructs first-year students on the art of effective legal writing.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis with a double major in History and Spanish and her law degree from the King Hall School of Law at UC Davis. Emilie is a Board Member of the Women’s Lawyer Association of San Luis Obispo, currently serving as its Secretary, a member of the San Luis Obispo Bar Association and a member of the IESA-Chilean ex-pat volunteer organization in La Serena, Chile. Fluent in Spanish and conversational in French, in her spare time Emilie enjoys playing tennis, skiing, spending time outdoors, learning Italian and is a book club enthusiast.
