Throughout his legal career, Don Wilson has engaged in third-party insurance litigation defense almost exclusively and has handled thousands of cases in all of the courts of Southern and Central California. With extensive jury trial experience, he has successfully litigated, through verdict, a broad range of cases and has developed special expertise in the defense of technically “complex” or “impact” litigation (Construction, Design Professional, Equine Veterinary and Medical E&O, Products, Toxic Torts, amongst others).
Before joining Carmel & Naccasha LLP, from 1971 until 1992, Don was Senior Managing Partner of his own five attorney litigation defense firm and, later, was a senior shareholder and a litigation chairperson for nearly 17 years at a large, highly respected (and consistently effective) west coast law firm, specializing in the handling of a wide variety of large value/exposure civil litigation matters.
Don has a documented track record of success in defending seven figure exposure matters in all of his areas of trial expertise, through favorable settlements, summary judgment and jury verdict.
Don has sat as Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Courts and as an appointed Arbitrator/Mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court. He has served as a delegate to the California State Bar Convention and as a member of the Legislative Committee. He is a trained Accident Reconstructionist and frequently lectures for companies in the insurance claims industry, construction and design professionals industries. Additionally, he is a licensed instrument-rated pilot, author, photographer, horseman and traveler.
After graduating from law school and before beginning his law career, Don served in the U.S. Army Security Agency (Electronic Intelligence and Counter Measures).
